Interstate I-75 was the scene of two car accidents within the past week – one ending in a fatality and another forcing Macon police to re-route traffic to avoid a potentially dangerous situation involving leaking propane.
Interstate I-75 Scene Of Car & Truck Accidents
The Macon police department responded to the following two accidents on I-75 within the past week:
- Fatality— According to Macon, Georgia station 41NBC/WMGT, a Byron man is dead after a car wreck on I-75 on May 11, 2013. The fatal accident, which happened near Hartley Bridge Road, claimed the life of an 87-year old man after his Honda SUV collided with a truck that was pulling another truck on a trailer.
- Propane leak—I-75 South was shut down on May 14, 2013 after a pickup truck overturned just before the I-16 and I-75 split near exit 165, according to station 41NBC/WGMT. The truck was carrying a propane tank that became lodged underneath the vehicle and began to leak – causing Macon police to re-route traffic off of the interstate near the Pierce Avenue exit away from the potential danger. A Macon police dispatch officer said the driver’s family drove him to a hospital in Bleckley County.
